Kickstarter, Voice Actors, EGX 2019
Well, what a month it’s been! From start to finish, this month has been jammed packed full of tasks and deadlines.
Lauren, our newbie to the team, had a huge mountain to climb in terms of marketing/social media bits. We were a bit all over the place in terms of getting our stores out there and our website feeling on-brand. Lauren has managed to clear out some of the BS in our website, as well as getting our Steam store ready for launch. In addition, she’s been building our own Project Grove website which is nearly ready to go. We threw her in the deep end somewhat, but she’s swum fine and doesn’t seem even close to tired yet!
Tom and Lauren were able to visit EGX ‘19 this year, with help from Brunel University. Opportunities like this are so rare and we’ve always jumped at the chance of them. We got some great press coverage (check the video below), you realise how invaluable opportunities like this are. To have a shout out with being amongst the top-20 games, is a huge privilege for us. It reminds us that we do have an interesting game, with a neat concept. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that.
So since then, around early-mid October, our team decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign for this coming November. This decision was not taken lightly – it's a mammoth task which requires dedication and enormous effort. After submitting our project for review, we got great feedback from a director in KS but were advised to launch in January, so we can build up our community amongst other reasons. So, you heard it here first- we'll be launching in January!
In October we also overcame two other milestones: 1) the Narrative and 2) Our 3D modeller vacancy.
We found a great 3D Environment Artist on Art Station and one thing led to the other.. We got ourselves another Artist on the team! We can’t wait to see some more assets in the game, so watch this space.
By mid-late October we completed the narrative for the beginning portion of the game, with over 60 pages written we were ready to record our lovely voice actors on the 31st. For us, that was one of our highlights in the month. We were in desperate need for narrative trailer wise, as well as requiring voice actors for the demo launch of Project Grove – seeing our characters come to life, was the best feeling. We had superb actors and we really felt the themes of Project Grove shine through.

So, I guess you can say it’s been a busy month for the herd? After months of late nights, long days, laughs and meltdowns (not naming names here) we’re well on our way to giving you guys a demo on Steam and launching our KS campaign. If any of you guys out there want to find out more other than from this blog, we’re on Discord! Join the herd, hassle us with questions, we’d love to hear from you all.
